BRAND NEW GUEST ARTIST SERIES SHEEP DECKS IN STOCK NOW.
The latest installment of our Guest Artist Series comes to us courtesy of Jason Filipow, an old skate homie of mine from way back. He was part of a crew of guys that emerged from the 80’s South East skate scene to become one of today’s most influential artists/ designers. Guys like Jason, Andy Howell, Kevin Taylor, and Shepard Fairey all took their east coast skate, punk, and DIY roots and applied it to the art world. We are really proud to have one of his designs on our decks.
Super Limited Edition run on these decks. We also ran some “Old School” Cruiser shapes and limited edition tee shirts per Jason’s request– they turned out really sick, so I’m glad he requested it.
Here’s some more info from Jason’s Bio:
Jason Filipow discovered skateboarding shortly after moving to Charleston, South Carolina in 1981. He found the activity to be in perfect harmony with his other creative interests at the time; music, art and photography. By age 15, Filipow was merging all of these pursuits onto the pages of Streetscribe, a ‘zine he co-edited, designed and published alongside fellow artist and skateboarder, Kevin E. Taylor. Filipow was also very active in expanding the local skate scene by building ramps, promoting and organizing contests, making t-shirts and stickers, participating in skateboarding demos, shooting photos and conducting interviews. He was also very proactive in assembling the local community to lobby for publicly-funded skateboarding facilities within the Lowcountry.
Today, Jason Filipow is a multi-disciplinary artist and designer who lives and works Los Angeles, CA. His creative Influences range from the absurdity of consumer culture to contemporary art history. His work often reflects these interests by utilizing a balance of both analog and digital techniques. He remains passionate about music, art, photography and, of course, skateboarding.

Also, get inspired with this recent webisode JRF created for Hurley’s Against the Grain series on the dying art of making a zine. In fact, here’s some vintage photos Jason and Kevin shot/published of me from their Zine, Streetscribe #4, Summer 1988. Ollieing a traffic cone and ollie mute grab off a jump ramp in some Nike Air Jordan 1’s over 20 years ago.

And last but not least, a piece of skate history. Classic Charleston, SC footage of THE POOL on his Sk843 site.
