Todd Francis: Legendary Skate Artist

If you’ve been skating for awhile you probably have ridden a Todd Francis graphic at one point or another. He’s worked in the industry for over 15 years designing graphics for notable companies such as Real, Anti-Hero, Stereo, New Deal and Element. Back in September he had a solo show at 3131 gallery in San Francisco featuring original line-art from 1993-2008. Tweaker Zine has nice slideshow of some of the artwork. And here is a link to a youtube video of the show.

Stereo Skateboards has a “hot seat” interview with the legendary skateboard artist. Here is a clip about a series of decks he did for Element. And here’s a signature series commerical for Fuel TV he did. If you are interested in practical graphic design or skate history I encourage you to check these out and learn a little about the man/stories behind the ink.
