Traffic Skateboards Now Available at Black Sheep

We just got a big shipment of decks from one of the sickest East Coast companies, Traffic Skateboards. We have a wide selection of sizes in some of the latest graphics, including Ricky Oyola and Bobby Puleo pro model decks.

Black Sheep x Almost Skateboards Deck

Black Sheep is proud to announce our latest professional collaboration with Dwindle Distribution and Almost Skateboards. The Black Sheep x Almost Skateboard deck features a custom Almost Skateboards inspired Black Sheep logo in our hometown, original “Charlotte Hornets” colorway of white, teal and purple. Each deck is constructed of 100% Canadian hardrock maple using Resin 7 epoxy construction and includes 90 day limited warranty (see information below).

Each Black Sheep x Almost Skateboard includes 90 day warranty against manufacturer defects and overall craftsmanship (for more information visit Dwindle.com - does not cover normal wear and tear from use). Resin 7 construction is lighter and stronger than the standard 7-ply. Epoxy is more aggressive than the normal water-based glue, which is the industry standard. Since epoxy is so strong, less of it is used yielding a considerably lighter, better deck that is stiffer and keeps its pop longer than normal water based decks.

New Artist Series Sheep Decks: Dax Mayer

We are proud to announce the latest installment in our Artist Collaboration Series of Black Sheep decks: the Dax Mayer “KCP” limited edition decks are now available.

Dax is an old skate buddy and friend of the shop. He was kind enough to gave us one of his amazing paintings as a gift when we first opened our doors, so his work was one of the first pieces of art to grace our walls. It has become a permanent fixture in the shop, and it still hangs over our dressing room to this day.

I asked him to share a few words about his background, and in his typical fashion this is what he had to say:

not to sound corny or whatever….but skateboard graphics are what got me into art in the first place…you know, a poor kid, growing up in detroit doesnt exactly go off to the louvre or the next art gallery at the an early age. so to take part in one myself is a real honor… i am not sure what to say about myself…. detroit-portland-charlotte-detroit-portland-nyc… in that order i guess…. started skating when i was 13…. still rolling with a torn acl at 35…. still look at everything like i can still skate it… as far as a title … KCP.”

So, there you have it. Dax is one of those real dudes you meet through skateboarding: equal parts nomad, skater, and black sheep. He embodies the black sheep spirit, so it’s a real honor to have him continue to support us and share his awesome talents with us years later.
