Kings of the Queen City 2011 Contest Results

Charlotte’s 3rd Annual King’s of the Queen City Contest ran August 12-21, 2011.

Teams competed for points by completing different challenges including terrain challenges, Charlotte spot challenges, and Best/Most/Highest overall challenges - similar to Thrasher’s King of the Road contest but specifically for Charlotte, NC.

This years KOTQC contest went better than ever, with over 10 teams of 5 guys signing up. 10 days later we had around 4 teams finish up. Thanks to everyone for all the hard work and sick skating! After we tallied all the points in the end, TEAM TRU consisting of Adam Nichols, Radeem Walls, Alex Julka, Michael Nichols and Matt Schneider stood on top and took the money, decks, wheels and shoes for first place. Congrats guys!!

Raekwon In-Store Appearance at Black Sheep

In the annals of Rap, few are more legendary than Raekwon. Cornerstone of The Wu-Tang Clan (and arguably among the most lyrically ruthless and precise of its members), the man has been creating classic rap recordings since the early 90s and is looked upon by fans with the same level of reverence reserved for old-school legends and and modern moguls such as Rakim, Jay-Z, Nas and only a small handful of others.

Famous as the originator of the Gambino-influenced Scorsese storytelling flow which has become a rap paradigm since the release of his classic record Only Built 4 Cuban Linx. 2009’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 was one of the year’s most critically acclaimed records, and he continues to guest on some of the greatest contemporary rap releases as well, having featured on Kanye West’s latest opus and received a grammy nomination for Big Boi’s ‘Royal Flush’.

Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang, Raekwon’s latest solo project was released on March 8th. It includes guest appearances by Nas, Busta Rhymes, Ghostface Killa, Estelle, Rick Ross, Lloyd Banks, Method Man, as well as Black Though from The Roots, the album has been predicted to take the prize as Hip-Hop album of the year by many critics and fans alike.
