This is a “Grill and Chill” event and NOT A SKATE DEMO, so kiddies please be sure to LEAVE YOUR BOARDS AT HOME.

Sooooooo, we had been talking about doing an art show based on the “black sheep” concept for a while. The idea was to contact a diverse group of artists from the realms of skate, tattoo, graffiti, street art, etc and invite them to compose art depicting what the phrase “black sheep” and the spirit of individuality meant to them. Eventually, Derek (aka Chalkboard) persuaded me to schedule something for the evening of March 20th, we came up with a catchy name over a few beers (“What the Flock”), and we were finally committed. Old homies from back in the day, well known artists from all over the country, customers, close friends, and everything in between jumped at the chance to participate. Sheep art show regulars like A3 Design, Jeremy Thompson from ATX, Chalkboard, Rodney and Lise from Ace Tattoo, John Hairston from God City, Jason Hanna, Irene, Jessica Sea (sorry for hanging your piece upside down!), Ben Gelnett from SmackHound, Jason Filipow, Nick Bowers over at OBEY, Bill McRight, and many more contributed to the show. Jason Waters even scored his own Sheep deck design. In addition to the established artists that we have previously featured, many of our friends and customers participated for the first time. The photos speak for themselves.
The week of the show, pieces started trickling in, and the artwork was really amazing. You never really know if/ when artwork will come through when you put one of these events together, but it was starting to look like we might not have room to display all the rad pieces. Luckily, we made room and prepared for the Friday night festivities. Record turnout on Camden Ave for the night of the event– we quit counting after more than 200 peeps came rolling through. Human Pippi Armstrong provided some ill jams for the night (feeling the gary numan, master p, and m83!), Red Bull dropped off some energy drinks, and many cases of beer were quickly crushed on the Sheep’s tab. Ray Ray held it down on ABC security and ?Myk from Danger Means Nothing and Black Sheep’s resident designer RMdocumented the scene for your blogging pleasure. Radar and Kitschworth put together the Swarm after party across the street at Apostrophe Lounge where A Huf and Dieter DJ Animate crushed it on the wheels of steel. We’d like to take this opportunity to personally thank all the artist for participating and everyone for coming out to show their support. Fun was had by all. See you on May 15th for the next one!!!

The Saturday Skateboards crew threw a rager a few weeks back featuring plenty of skateboarding, art, music, and mayhem. Most Def Media posted a little clip with some highlights of the night’s festivities featuring some shredding from our homies Justin Pittman, Juho, and Ben “Big Daddy” Smith.

This update is kinda late, but better late than never. Sheep was honored to be invited to the 3rd annual Best Damn Shop Contest held at Project 58 Skatepark in Raleigh a few weeks back. Fun times were had with some amazing skating going down from all the shops. Gilbert Crockett was MVP and help put Dominion in 1st place. SPoT came in 2nd and Vertical Urge took 3rd. BlueTile heads destroyed it as always. Thanks to Bob and Pang from DC Shoes for throwing the event and Brandon and Pittman for skating. Here’s some video posted by our friends over at Pit Crew– watch close and you’ll see Pittman catch a pretty nasty hardflip across the pyramid.

Category :Radar from Kitschworth put together a really fun event last Thursday night. Laced Up had the Camden Crooks bringing some steez and drunken mayhem (mostly the latter) downtown to the Forum. Limited edition kicks were on display from Sheep, Niche, and Puma as well as some tricked out custom Vans from some dope artists. A big “Bear Hug” to the Process Clothing crew for making the trip up from ATL, taking some great Photos and not putting me on Blast for my incoherent drunken rant around 2:00 AM.
