King of the Queen City 2010 Video and Emerica Stay Gold Premiere

This Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The Common Market South End will be hosting the premiere of each team’s final video edit from the 2010 King of the Queen City skateboarding contest that just ended. Come out and support your fellow skaters and the local scene. Following the local video premiere we will be showing the brand new Emerica video, Stay Gold.

Back To School Tax Free Holiday: Aug 6-8th

That’s right, North Carolina’s Annual Tax Free Weekend starts this Friday August 6th through Sunday August 8th.

It’s that time of year again, so come by the Sheep to save some extra loot all weekend long and get a jump on your Back to School shopping. All skate hardgoods, shoes, and apparel will be tax free. That’s right, absolutely ZERO TAX on EVERY ITEM IN THE STORE!!!

Finally? Video Premiere August 1st @ Common Market

Steve Naylor has been working hard to finish up Finally? a skateboard film featuring Zay Belton, Freddy Phillips, Givens Ekwem, Ben Phillips, Tre Boyd, and more up and comers.

You know Black Sheep is for the kids, so we’ll be helping them host a premiere on the big screen for their project at the Common Market Southend on Sunday, August 1st at 7:30 pm. Come out, have a drink, and enjoy some local skateboarding with your homies– should be a good time.

Mountain Dew Green Label Art Shop Series

THE SHEEP NEEDS YOU!!

Mountain Dew skateboarder Paul Rodriguez and legendary skate artist Don Pendleton worked together to create their own signature can for Mountain Dew. Then inspired 35 skate shops across the country to design their own Dew can in a contest that just launched called the Mountain Dew Green Label Art Shop Series. Black Sheep was 1 of the 35 shops nationally selected to participate in this contest.

The 35 shops have been divided into 7 different regions. The shop with the most votes in each region will advance to the final round of 7 cans and make it one step closer to being made and distributed nationally. Black Sheep is listed in the Mid Atlantic region.

Please go to www.greenlabelart.com and vote for the Black Sheep entry. Help us get to the finals by voting for our can and you’ll also be entered in weekly drawings for tons of cool limited edition gear, prizes and trips.

Regional voting ends September 9 at 2:59pm and each registration is allowed 7 votes per day.

Red Bull Manny Mania CLT Web Coverage

Some coverage popping up on the web from last weekend’s Red Bull Manny Mania.

This was an epic weekend with lots of great skating and lots of great friends in town to hang out and rage. Another special thanks to all the homies at Red Bull, SPoT, and all the shops and skaters that showed up for supporting Black Sheep and Charlotte Skateboarding.

Ryan Flynn was in town for the event and has posted some great pics up over at Skateboarder Magazine

Matt Fink ripped it up all day long in the heat and came in first with Scotty Moore and Connor Champion in 2nd and 3rd place respectively. Lots of Black Sheep homies rounding out the top 12 as well, so the locals were definitely ripping it up.

Happy Go Skateboarding Day 2010 !!!

It’s that time of year again, June 21st is the first day of Summer and that means “Go Skateboarding Day” is here and in full effect. We’ve got Mark, Danny, and lots of the shop homies cruising the streets with the kids and giving away some product to help celebrate.

So, go grab your board and enjoy some time with all your homies. The cops have been to the shop a few times today already, so just be sure to keep things respectful and mellow– you don’t want to find yourself on the wrong side of the arm of the law.

Happy Go Skateboarding Day– Black Sheep will see you in the streets and in the bars for sure.

Red Bull Manny Mania this Saturday, June 19th

Black Sheep and Red Bull Skateboarding are teaming up this weekend to bring you Red Bull’s Annual Manny Mania Am Contest in Charlotte, NC on Saturday, June 19th, 2010.

The event will take place as part of this year’s Southend Soul Art Festival, and Camden Road will be blocked off to make room for the legendary Red Bull Manny Mania street course.

The contest is Invite Only and the Top Am’s from the Southeast will be traveling to Charlotte to compete.

Winners from the event will qualify to advance to the Manny Mania World Final held August in New York City where one lucky amateur will win the chance to compete against the world’s top pro’s in the world’s biggest manual skate contest.

Maloof Money Cup NYC Results

This weekend’s Maloof Money Cup NYC is a wrap, and it looks like Chris Cole took top honors and the $100,000 cash prize for the 2nd year in a row. Not too bad for a day’s “work.”
