If you’ve been following us on Twitter, or are a fan of our Facebook Page, then you caught an exclusive sneak peak of our recent collaboration with Spitfire Wheels earlier this week. Well, today we are proud to present a closer look at the Limited Edition Black Sheep x Spitfire Wheels.

You know that Spitfire is the #1 wheel brand in the world and nearly everyone at the shop has been riding them for years, so it was only right for Black Sheep to partner up with them for our own Limited Edition version.

Our good friend and resident Art Director, Richie McCorkle collaborated with us closely on the graphic design of the the wheels, and we went through many versions until we got it right.

We chose a clean and classic two-sided design composed of Black, Gold, and Silver. A single wheel of the pack features a reverse black print on both sides and represents the “Black Sheep” of the four wheels. The “Black Sheep wheel” is also highlighted by a repeating crown pattern to represent our very own Queen City.

The wheels also feature our “O.G. Black Sheep logo” and additional custom labeling including the North Carolina state motto– Esse Quam Videri which means “To Be Rather Than To Seem.”

To top it all off, the Black Sheep x Spitfire wheels are certified F-1 Street Burner Urethane, Spitfire’s exclusive flatspot resistant urethane that grips when you need it, provides a controlled slide when you want it, and is specially formulated to withstand any street terrain.

Mountain Dew Green Label Art Shop Series

REGIONAL VOTING ENDS THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 9 AT 2:59 pm. Get those votes in and help us take it to the finals.

Mountain Dew skateboarder Paul Rodriguez and legendary skate artist Don Pendleton worked together to create their own signature can for Mountain Dew. Then inspired 35 skate shops across the country to design their own Dew can in a contest that just launched called the Mountain Dew Green Label Art Shop Series. Black Sheep was 1 of the 35 shops nationally selected to participate in this contest.

The 35 shops have been divided into 7 different regions. The shop with the most votes in each region will advance to the final round of 7 cans and make it one step closer to being made and distributed nationally. Black Sheep is listed in the Mid Atlantic region.

Please go to www.greenlabelart.com and vote for the Black Sheep entry. Help us get to the finals by voting for our can and you’ll also be entered in weekly drawings for tons of cool limited edition gear, prizes and trips.

Band of Horses Skate Vid Contest

Man, I still get a little teary eyed watching Guy Mariano skating to Band of Horses “The Funeral” in Fully Flared…

Well, Creighton Barrett from Band of Horses hit us up personally to ask us to help get the word out about a rad contest they are throwing over on their Facebook Page.

Creighton is from the South, so he wants to give back and make sure that the Southern Skate Scene is properly represented. Here’s the lowdown, just make a video of your best skate footage featuring one of the songs from the new BOH album, Infinite Arms, and you could win:

-Airfare and hotel for two to Los Angeles
-Tickets to see BOH at The Greek Theater
-A trip to Girl Skateboard’s private skate park to skate with Creighton Barrett of BOH

Nike SB “Tecate” Dunk High Available Aug 14th

The latest Quickstrike from Nike SB, the “Tecate” Dunk High will be available on Saturday, August 14th at 11:00 am.

Adding to the list of beer inspired SB’s such as the Heineken , Newcastle, and Miller High Life Dunks, the “Tecate” Dunk High (Metallic Gold/ Sport Red/ Black) takes it’s inspiration from the popular Tex Mex Cereveza of the same name. Black Sheep homie, Tyler Tufty came up with this colorway– if you’ve ever hung out and skated with Tyler then you know he rips on a skateboard as well as in the bars.

Available in men’s sizes 4-13. As with all Nike SB Quickstrikes, supplies are extremely limited, so don’t sleep.

The “Tecate” Dunks feature a unique mix of materials, including a sport red suede and black leather upper, a red patent leather swoosh, and a metallic gold and silver side panels that mimic the beer can’s signature color scheme. Salud!
